Re-tweeting the same text pointing people to your blog (or any content for that matter) as you've been doing, is considered bad taste... /unsubscribe

I think you're mistaken. It's considered quite legitimate for people to use Twitter to refer to their own content. Check again.

Ah posted this twice.... get the point?

To re-tweet content directing others to you blog, or re-tweeting anything for that matter, is considered in bad taste (it borders on SPAM). /unsubscribe.

I wasn't referring to tweeting once to direct people to your blog, I was referring to tweeting more than once with the same content. You've tweeted more than once, the exact same tweet with the same content. I didn't mean tweating as a method of directing people to your site, but tweeting it repeatedly.

Ah, I missed your point. Yes, I would agree with that. Posting the same content is spamish. Agreed.

The problem is that I didn't post the same thing twice--they were two DIFFERENT things; they were just both about Twitter. :)

Ah, well in that case, retracted. Thanks!

I tend to use twitter for networking within my town. For instance, I've found an incredible amount of really cool people here in Phoenix, that I might not have ever run into. And on top of that, I've found a huge amount of resources through them. I think its social-blogging, more than just micro-blogging. IM + Blog in a way. I am guilty of having a lot of @replies lately on my account, and I'm not great at DMing. but yeah, i think if you look at it as a combination of Blogging + Instant Messaging, I find it's easier to make progress with finding it useful

Very interesting. I really like this line of thinking and have wondered about this myself... When I reply publicly (non-DM) I try to repeat part of the original tweet for the convenience of readers who don't know the context. It's like the difference between tweeting "Dude! Wow! http://tinyurl..." and "Finally--mayonnaise that tastes like bacon! http://tinyurl..."
