This is a Real Help Desk Ticket

Started by Daniel Miessler · 7 months ago

A buddy of mine at work told me about this help-desk ticket today at lunch. I told him I just had to see it. Here’s a screen-clip of it:

From a Real Help Desk Ticket

Hence my favorite word—mouthbreather. ... Continue reading »

  • It's possible she's used to a mac...

  • Or it's possible that he or she is an idiot. They probably also sent a ticket asking "Why does a little menu pop-up when I use the extra button on my mouse?"

  • I'm kind of curious what the long description says.

  • I was wondering the same.
  • Of course they're used to a mac, how else could a computer user be so dumb.

  • Wow that last comment shows about as much intelligence as the actual tech call they are referring to.

  • Well, since you can right click with a mac, and since the close button on mac programs turns into an x when you mouse over it, she's probably a moron. Mac users aren't stupid, they're just not masochists.

  • Who said it was a woman?

  • WoW I hadn't realized that people were so stupid (and racist, see the cocksucking coward who wont give a name)and no a mac can't right click only control click you need a right mouse button to right click.

  • I have a 5-button mouse for my mac. I can right click just fine thank you

  • OMG 5-button mouse, looks like an obama complex

  • I love the macheads getting all defensive about their two button mouse. Welcome to 1975.

  • just so you know... there's a thing called Keyboard and Mouse preferences on every Mac. If you open it, you can enable right click on a gasp "one button" Mighty Mouse (and do other cool things, too).

I know, it's a hard concept to grasp. Every Mac sold in the last three or so years has this mouse. All it takes is three mouse clicks to change it.

  • What's with the racial crap? That's just ignorant.

I'm wondering what the longer description said - it may give some insight into what the person was thinking when s/he filed the ticket.

But let's face it - everyone came to computers as a newbie. At one time in our lives, everyone here didn't know what the 'X' was for. So this person got confused and filed a ticket. Doesn't make him/her all bad, or even particularly stupid. Just inexperienced.

  • "(and racist, see the cocksucking coward who wont give a name)"
and this, sir, is in no way homophobic. Idiot.

  • not all cocksucking is gay...
Also, unless a comment was deleted, I see no racism... mac users are NOT a race. Neither are women.

I do think that people suck for assuming it was a girl, though.

Anyways, (the only Windows worth using is Windows 7 Ultimate) windows are good for games, macs are good for art and music, linux is good for programming and general use, and macs ARE PC's. Personal Computers. The commercials are stupid.
  • The sad thing to me is that this made it out of the helpdesk and to the technicians.

  • I have same problem. How I fix please help. thank!! please write!!!

  • Stupid Microsoft.
Putting the little x (to close one doc), just under the big red x (to close word), is pure stupidity.
You might accidently close several doc in one click.

But not realise that, and make a help desk ticket, show that a lot of users still need help with the basics.
  • maybe she complained about ms word closing without asking to save when you hit the red 'X' !:)
  • Just use free Linux and design your own little "X" button.

    See there, problem solved!
    ; )
  • This happens so often, more frequently are people that hide their taskbar and get so frustrated because they need to know what time it is.

As for the Mac users, personally I currently don't own the OS or the PC that comes bundled with the software. I may get one in the future, but only because I can. Those with opinions who hide behind generic names (or completely anonymous) are the real novices in the field of tech.

I challenge those of you that resort to vulgar speech patterns and general semantic badgering to stop, before you lose yourself to the war that is flame.
