For the life of me I can't see why. I get the chibi look, and the deformed anime eyes, but aside from that, she's just another henna-gaijin, albeit one who hasn't lived or even visited the country...

It's because she is seriously cute. Japanese girls are so cute everyone wants to look - then realize they can be a bit odd - to westerners, at least; as I'm sure we can be to them. Cute in an odd way.
