Voted up on reddit and submitted to StumbleUpon.
I hope I have helped at least a few people to see the truth of matters.
I strongly suggest that you post this all, and immediately, on DailyKos. It will spread like wildfire.
www.dailykos.com
It made it onto the Daily show.
I do not believe there is an issue that McCain HASN'T flip flopped on.
Awesome. I emailed Dave "RSS" Winer and he's posted about this as well.
MOMENTUM!
I saw it on the Daily show too!
This girl is studying what in college. She is a complete moron,"slavery" come on.
Who is paying 60% of their income. Also Sweden has a higher standard of living then the US.
I guess when McCain mentioned a certain level of comfort he was talking about people like Bill Gates and not his Cindy...
Gave the post its props for reddit and stumbleupon and passing the message along to as many people as I can.
I don't think what McCain is saying here is a flipflop. He is defending the status quo. Progressive taxes are fundamental to democracy and have nothing to do with the category of socialism and command economy. Progressive taxes were around in the Greek city-states and are fundamental to their economic development and democracy.
Wonderful, are the DailyKos idiots going to come to this site now? That place makes Fox News seem like the place for middle-of-the-road, un-biased information.
if you have to explain what he said and what he means, then it is not blatantly obvious.
So when was this town hall done. Do you think useful information like that should be included on your webpage? This looks like it comes from McCains early period, before he sold out to the republicans.
A better issue I think should be looked at, would be showing McCains early ideals, when he was a "maverick", to the ones he supports now, to toe the line of the republican party.
@ joe
Since when were politicians clear in their meanings? Did I miss the memo?
I think it helps the layman, especially, to have the much clearer definition laid out for them, as it may not be quite so clear to the greater American public as it is to you and I.
This just reinforces to me how much McCain has sold the hell out to the Republicans. He used to have integrity and ideas that made sense...
@Dale
Where's the bias in this? What's wrong with pointing out blatant hypocrisy? We're talking about the final cornerstone of the McCain campaign being based on attacking a position that McCain himself is on video supporting.
I fail to see how exposing this kind of garbage is offensive to you, man. If it were Obama doing this sort of acute lying I'd be slamming his ass too, and voting for Barr or abstaining. Trust me.
You can call me extreme or emotional, and that's fine, but to say that I only lean in one direction is just not accurate. If you show me the flaw in my argument I will most definitely change my opinion.
I make a lot of money through my hard efforts. Why should I have to pay for trash pickup. Let the poor pay. They're the ones buying all the crappy shit.
So some loser has to pay ten percent for a pack of sandwich ham. That means I have to pay 100,000 for my million dollar sailboat.
The rich made this country. Screw the poor and the middle class.
I think the point that is trying to be made is that McCain took a quote from Obama and is trying to stretch it beyond its context.
I don't think you can deny that if Obama made that very same statement, that he would be derided even more for being a 'socialist'.
@Thomas

Well, when you stop producing trash altogether, you'll have a valid point; seeing as how it's impossible NOT to produce trash of some sort, it's clear that you were born yesterday. Go ahead - try eating a banana and not produce trash.

"So some loser has to pay ten percent for a pack of sandwich ham. That means I have to pay 100,000 for my million dollar sailboat."

If people were only forced to pay taxes on small items like food and not on larger items like LAND, there wouldn't be a purpose to taxes; nothing worthwhile could ever get done. Say goodbye to new roadways...and repairs for that matter. Loser.

Did you really build the house you live in yourself? Wow, my whole outlook on life just changed. Thank you for providing such profound insight!

Now you can go get your mom to pack up your lunch; you don't want to miss the short yellow bus like you did yesterday!
Sorry, but you don't have a smoking gun there.
What you don't understand (but you might if you actually looked the breakdowns of any income tax return) is that we have a graduated tax rate. In plain English, this means that the rich ALREADY pay a higher percentage of taxes than the poor. In fact, the very poor pay nothing. Despite the propaganda you may have heard, this was even true under GW Bush, believe it or not.
So all McCain is doing, is supporting the current tax system. He isn't asking for more breaks for the rich, nor is he asking for them to be taxed more.
I know that might be taxing to your mind, but I'm just throwing that out there.
Sadly, I have to agree with Shane that this isn't going to change the minds of people who are going to Vote for McCain. This is however going to make a point to the people who are still, somehow, undecided at this point.
@Thomas, SPQR said it all. Except for the short bus part. There is an argument against it however. The rich do provide the jobs. Giving them a tax break would create an incentive to create more jobs. In practice though, I don't really see this. It seems as those most executives choose to pad their wallets, export jobs overseas, build in Dubai rather than re-invest in the infrastructure of the country. Either in jobs, houses here in the U.S. You don't see many day philanthropists who donate most of their income. They're outliers rather than the statistical norm. India and China seem to be catching up to us in terms of technology, quality of life etc. (Although India may be a poor example since their is an extreme gap between poor and wealthy. Untouchables let's say, but this has to do more with societal views. Someone who is being punished for sins of their last life by being poor in this one, isn't going to receive any handouts. Most foreign aid doesn't wind up in the hands of poor Indians unless directly given to them.)
Where was I going with this? I'm not quite sure. Thomas is an idiot though, so that bears repeating.
Look at what our allies and progressive countries in Europe are doing.
I also read an article recently that McCain has had his campaign efforts backwards. He was unable to energize the conservative base, so he chose a VP that would be able to do that. He further distanced himself to middle America. In past presidents you see the VP as someone who is going to appeal to the people the candidate doesn't naturally (because they tend to appeal to the party already) and choose a more middle of the road VP candidate that makes up for what they lack.
I feel this election may have been more interesting if Ron Paul was the Republican pick, or if McCain from 2000-2006 was still running. Although, he has type to skin cancer, has had it reoccur multiple times, and already faces a 65% chance of survival. I think that's news that needs to be spread around more than anything. His survival rate by the end of his first time would be much lower. People should really be looking at it as a Palin/???????? ticket. Not McCain/Palin.
Nice video either way, further showing he doesn't say what he means when on the stump, but only when he sits down and thinks.
Dan,
This is the comment that is the smoking gun:

Now if the poor and the real middle-class the $45,000 - $125,000.00 income people ever got wind of what this type of feeling towards them...
Or the Middle-class, I do not know the $250,000.00 wage-earners...
ever found out that the Republican Base did not consider them worth the muck under their shoes after they stepped in manure...
There would never be a need for a Two-Party System ever again.
Game over.
I get sick when I hear Republicans talk about the Democrats and their "spending"...
Look at how much money was spent during the 8 years of the Reagan years... more money in 8 years was spent than the previous 200 years in this country.
Then came Slick Willie... and someone he managed to leave the country with some sort of surplus. Wait... that's right he was a Democrat, right... yep... funny how that worked out.
Then came ole DumbA$$ Dubya, who apparently was not so dumb... since he managed to not only spend more money... Hah! $700+ Billion and counting in a country with a previous GDP of like $20 Billion...
Yep, I know why his previous businesses failed... ROI is not there.
But hey the tax payers (us - all of U.S.) are paying for that financial blunder of all history... and then what's worse... than that..
Gas... from about $1.00 a gallon to over $5.00 a gallon at some points in this fiasco of PAX REPUBLICANA...
Someone's hands are getter greased... Hmmm... Cheney... Cheney...
And dude, if you think you are in the Republican Elite if you make just at $250k per year... better think again...
Chances are you are just a convenience for one of them, their friends, or maybe their family etc... fit your demographic.
What's sad is the ignorance of it all...
How many people in the deep south and the midwest are people that the Reblican Elite even care about?
Sure they claim bible, family values, anti-abortion... till Palin came along and the family values got thrown out with the baby's water...
The party is one of convenience and free rides.
Again we are already being taxed higher under a Republican Presidency than ever we could be otherwise...
How much is you health insurance?
How much if you do not have health insurance (about $10k/week)
How much is your gas now? verus then? And don't blame the Saudi Arabians either... but you'd have to know how to perform compare ratios i.e. $50.00/barrel of oil = $1.00 per gallon and $90.00 per barrel of oil = $5.00 per gallon = Republican math.
How much has you cost of food risen... that's a tax too.
How much has everything in your life gone up as a result of higher fuel costs... we call that tax too.
Now how much has minimum wage gone up? Not enough for these taxes... that's for sure.
Who supports a plan for universal healthcare? Hmmm... = lower taxes
Who supports getting out of money-sucking IRAQ? = Hmmm...
Who support education...? Hmmm...
Look the Republicans don't even want people to vote...
ACORN is a group that ultimate gets out to get people registered to vote.
They cite a lot of junk which they seem to be having trouble proving.
However... the fact is the Republicans cannot win if everyone votes.
How can 10% of the population ever beat 90% of the population in a fair election?
If the 90% are not permitted to vote at all.
Ouch!!!
Get out and vote.
If you earn under $250,000.00 the Republicans think you are slime and looking for a handout. That's the meat of the matter.
Personally at my meager $100k-ish salary... I do not think myself looking for a handout, nor looking like the slime on their boots.
Time to kick them out of the Presidency and out of Congress...
Sorry I look back in our recent history... and mostly everything that America cannot be proud of the Republicans have wrapped in an American Flag...
That's sick!
I was about to tell commenters to ignore the troll (Thomas) but looks like I am too late. Thomas' idiocy is also in no way a smoking gun against McCain either.
John Rohan: Right on.
DW: Was there a point to that rant?
blah blah blah freakin blah Obama has it and thats that!! get over it and get used to it
WHY has this video not reached a HUGE audience? Barack could use this clip to shut McCain up once and for all!
